Launch pictures!

Back from a successful launch! (And a mostly-successful trip down to Cocoa Beach to see it.)

Have been awake... ::counts:: 38.5 hours. Woo. So going to bed at 2-ish today. Real report to come tomorrow, but for now...

PICTURES!

Our sophisticated viewing location, aka Julian's car pulled alongside the Beeline. ^^;

The first picture! I didn't get any pictures with the flame coming out the bottom (was too busy "ooh"ing and "aah"ing and once it cleared the trees the SRBs didn't burn much longer anyway), but I did see it!

Discovery climbs higher

The SRBs have detached and we can't see the shuttle anymore because it's not creating smoke any longer

The final trail left behind

But what's this? It looks like smoke rings in the sky. It's actually the point at which the shuttle went from sub- to supersonic, and the smoke trail got flattened in the wake. Pretty neat!

That's it for pictures (sorry they weren't too exciting). Story to come later when I'm not all @.@.

YES!!! It was soooo cool. We're all like, "LOOK, SRB!" and all. We were just a bit sad we hadn't made it all the way to Cocoa Beach by 10:39, considering we left Gainesville at like 5:30-6am. @.@ Damn traffic. We were about 20 miles out though, so it was still totally awesome.

Thanks! I'm just sad I don't have an ultra-mega-zoom lens for my camera, or the pix might have been more exciting. ^^;

Let's see... we're bringing some orginal and canon Prince of Tennis characters, Kira and Lacus (OMG must get Kira done!) from Gundam SEED, Ritsuka and Soubi from Loveless... and maybe that's it? Maybe one more. We should be there Friday night, all day Saturday, and most of Sunday, so hopefully we will catch you! What are you bringing?

^^, regardless, it's cool for me. I love anything that has to do with space (just not doing the math that's required xD).

Oh, that's so cool about your costumes! I can't wait to see them (ahhh, Kira/Lacus one of my favorite Gundam pairings!) and I'll definitely keep an eye out. ^^ I'm bringing Shiori from Utena (rosebride version) with Karen as(my Rei's) Juri, Asuka plugsuit, Tohru, and Rosette.

Oh, and I don't know if it's any big news, but I found out that I got into Beaty Towers dormitory at UF! I move there in about 2 weeks.

And hey, that is big news! We should meet up and have dinner or something (mm, I love this Japanese place, Bentos) sometime before classes start. ^_^ I'm so excited to have a friend moving to Gainesville.
