Nov. 16th, 2004 02:32 pmNo coffee hour today - Cynthia's giving her oral, so I have some time to type.
Yesterday went pretty well. At the end of her Journal Club talk, Leah's last slide was a big picture or Ryoma that said "Happy Birthday Alison", which really made my day. ^//^; I guess all those PoT things I have taped to the wall around my desk at school don't go unnoticed. >> School itself was okay, since we had no real classes, and when I got home I did some work in between using my happy new sewing machine to work on Enki, which was fun. Then Jen and Brandon stopped by and gave me the Shaman King game!! XD Well, the rest of my evening was... unproductive. Unless you count beating the crap out of Horo Horo and Ren productive... ^^;; It's a really cool game, and the first few levels are easy so you can get the hang of it. I have the feeling that very soon I will be getting my butt kicked, however. But the graphics are really nice, so even though there's still "Morty" and "Rio" and "Trey" (they did it again - they called him Horo Horo until he said, "Call me Trey Racer!" ><***), it's not so bad. AND! During the opening, they had managed to *not* mangle Lyserg's name. o.O Craziness. We'll have to see when I get to him.
Um... otherwise, got some neat cards and some money for books and birthday phone calls and the like. ^_^ Really, it was a good day, even though I didn't do anything, because I kinda... didn't really feel like doing anything. And today is Jen's birthday, so HAPPY BIRTHDAY! ^_^ Unfortunately I have night lab tonight and tomorrow (blargh) but it *might* be a short lab so there's promise.
In other news... I *finally* found a paper for Fred's class (I hope!) and there's an outline for that presentation due Friday. There's homework in that class due tomorrow that none of us understand, and I'm still working on my stuff for Steve's class. Plus I have Journal Club in two weeks, though I've picked my paper - it's on Europa and conservation of surface area, and involves "Evil Twin" in the title. Can't be bad. ^^;
Oh, and the big unhappy news: I have to move. Apparently they're tearing down and rebuilding my apartment complex, so they're terminating all leases at the end of May and kicking us out. I am singularly unhappy - I LIKE my apartment a lot! I like the layout, I like the feel, I like the location, I like the rent, etc.! I'm pretty bummed; I hadn't planned on moving for five years. Getting my furniture out is going to SUCK. -_-; But, as Jennie says, everything happens for a reason. Maybe I'll find someplace I like just as much - I only looked at maybe seven or eight places when we came down here originally, and now I have a better idea of where I can live and what I can afford. So I'll be looking around for new apartments starting soon. It had me pretty down for a day or two, but, well, there's nothing I can do about having to move so I guess I'll just have to put my energy into looking for a good place and things'll work out. Eheh. Go Yoh's philosophy!
And now it's almost time to go downstairs for class. Yay, presentations today.

Date: 2004-11-19 02:44 pm (UTC)I'm trying to look at it in the light that I have what, six months to find a place? I've been inquiring around the department, so I'm hopeful that I can find a place I like with just as good - if not better - rates on rent and such.
And ::hugs:: for you - you sounded down, so I hope things are going as okay as they can go.
