Should they be giving me power?
Aug. 20th, 2004 04:06 pmWow, I'm actually writing a syllabus for a class. o.O It feels so weird, writing things like "attendance is mandatory" and "your lab report must be in the correct format for credit" in bold.
Finally got my schedule worked out. Looks not too bad - most stuff is in the middle of the day/late afternoon, except for the one early-ass morning session I have on Thursday, which starts at 8:30am. >< Stupid UFL allowing classes to start that early. I also have to be at the observatory one night a week for two hours or so, but that's not bad. It's not as involved as 12.410 - we'll be setting up the telescopes for the students (8" Meades, w00t!) and maybe the 12" (on which we are allowed to use the nifty paddle that does all the work for us XD) to show them deep field objects. Plus, TAs are allowed to use the teaching observatory whenever they want, though we do have to help out at the department's Public Night twice a semester.
TA training went okay; we finished going over the basic procedures for a few of the experiments this morning, and they don't look *too* too bad. And I think I'm only taking two "real" classes (something about star formation and something about black holes or somesuch), so that's good, I think. Other than that, I have something like the seminar I took last year where we discussed journal articles, a once-a-week thing where people from the department come in and talk about their research, and I guess I'm required to go to department seminars. ::shrug::
Filled out Borders and Barnes&Noble apps today and now I just need to take them in, but it's thundery outside so I think I might wait on that until tonight or tomorrow morning. I might just pass out in the meantime; I got seven hours of sleep last night but I'm still exhausted. Finished "Tales from Earthsea" so I can finally start "The Other Wind."
And I'm sure that I had something more to say, maybe, but my mind's running blank. Sorry I haven't been around much (especially for people like Steph and Lisa); life's been hectic and I'm all-too-good at disappearing. -_-;
