Well, in the immortal words of Nathan, "They done good." And I think I have to agree.

I was worried about the whole "alternate universe" idea being just dismissed with a throwaway line, but no - it was actually a large part of the plot, and I liked that. I liked it a lot. It made sense and it resolves the whole canon/non-canon issue and just yes. It makes everything okay.

I admit, the Spock/Uhura scene in the turbolift totally made me WTF. But by the end of the movie I think I was actually okay with that thing they had. I mean, really. It's much, much better than the Kirk/Uhura I was anticipating. And it's really an interesting dynamic, even if we don't get to see much of that in the movie. So yeah. I can get behind that. (Also, props to Mister Quinto. He wasn't Sylar at all, he was Spock. And a likeable Spock, which was probably partly the writing, but I like likeable Spock. I admit I never much cared for him in TOS.)

Also, everyone got to be awesome. CHEKOV got to be awesome. (Even if that whole "code incorrect" thing was just mean. >>;) Sulu got to be awesome! McCoy was totally great. And Scotty was fantastic. And yes, I admit it. That Enterprise reference totally made the movie for me. MADE. THE MOVIE. XDD But hey, it'd be post-Enterprise, right? Which, given the designs of things on that show and the whole timey-wimey thing occurring after the Enterprise era, it so totally meshes well. (And hilariously enough, the "Please turn off your cell phones" commercial before the movie totally had Malcolm in it. I wonder if that was intentional. XD)

Complaints? They needed to use their tricorders at all for more than just the three seconds Kirk decided to complain at it on that one planet. D: (Okay, totally minor, but still!) They shouldn't have been able to talk to the away team skydiving down to the drill while it was still on. (Unless it just knocked out subspace? But then you'd think there'd still be some kind of transmission from the planet and there wasn't, so I stick by my nitpick.) And I'm not really sure that blast wave would propel them faster than it (not to mention it took less time for a planet to disappear into a black hole made from a single drop of red matter than the Romulan ship to disappear into a black hole made from a whole shit-ton of it). But yeah. That's really pretty much it. (Well, aside from, "What does 'dilithium chamber at maximum' even mean, Scotty? XD At least THE EJECTION SYSTEM ACTUALLY WORKED WHEN THEY NEEDED IT THANK YOU VERY MUCH.)

I think I'd actually like to make the new uniform for D*C. They look so much cooler than the TOS ones. XD And I will totally be seeing this in IMAX, if it can be arranged. I will be buying a phaser. And I think I need to kick out an icon or two. XD;

SO. :D GOOD JOB GUYS. :Dd (That is how you type that... right? XD)

In totally completely unrelated news, I got a new shirt. :D Target boys' section FTW~
