We blow stuff up so you don't have to.

Okay~ A real-life update of sorts (
silvergirl354, this is for you!).
Sooo as I kind of mentioned, yesterday Valerie graduated to the mighty ranks of those who hold a doctorate, yay! I'm very proud of her. :D She made the decision a while ago that "Everything I do from now on is going to be brilliant," and I think that's really worked out for her. ;D She wanted everyone to wear silly hats to her defense, and that was quite amusing in and of itself! Greatest idea ever. Afterwards there was an X-ray Binary-shaped cake, courtesy of Michelle (I took pictures, they will so be uploaded later!) and then Valerie, Jesse, and I got in line to go see the Mythbusters~ We got in line when it was short, so we were some of the first people in - there were actually two lines, one on each side of the building, which ended up snaking around and connecting somewhere in the middle. Smart, people. Real smart. >>;
ANYWAY. So we got to see the Mythbusters, and they are awesome. XD Very amusing. They got a standing ovation just for walking in. XD And then they brought a video montage of what Adam termed "Explosion Porn." It was quite fantastic. Now I need to see that episode where they blow up the water heater - that thing spent fifteen seconds in the air. Holy crap. XD Mythbusters, we love you. I think it was a very fitting post-PhD defense celebration for Valerie~ Then we walked back to Jesse's car, all three of us wearing Jayne hats and singing the Hero of Canton. It doesn't get much better than that. XD (Jesse, by the way, is awesome, because he went and nabbed us a pizza for dinner and then drove us home. :D <3)
Um... so as I mentioned, there's this big outreach thing going on this week. We basically set up a bunch of tables and telescopes at the museum and people show up and look interested. XD We also have the Starlab, our little portable planetarium, and now the Geowall, which is kind of a 3D projection system, so we can do shows and things. There might be a puppet show too? I'm not sure. XD Anyway, I'm on the outreach committee, so I'm supposed to kind of rope in volunteers for this sort of thing. But that doesn't mean I'm running it! Apparently everyone thinks that what it means, though. :x In any case, while trying to absolve myself of as much non-volunteer-related responsibility as possible, I will be helping out, mostly at the Geowall/Cosmology table, but possibly with the Starlab as well. But I am so leaving early. Someone else can be in charge of cleanup!
In other news, I think I spent almost ALL of this past weekend either watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer - I'm on season 4 now, which I think is where I came in, because I remember some of these episodes - and reading this, which took up half of Saturday, most of Sunday, and about an hour and a half last night. But I just couldn't stop! It was really quite good. I should see if they've written other fics. I kept meaning to get off the couch and sew, but I never did quite bring myself to do it. But I did go to the grocery store and do some laundry and I cleaned a bit, so I was somewhat productive. I also got to work on some fics, because I owe one person a fic in exchange for a cute little Haro hangy-thing, and then there were some prompts from that damned meme that I've been wanting to work on. It was really a gorgeous weekend - well, it was HOT (like, 85) on Friday and Saturday, but now it's back in the 60s. Make up your mind, weather! BUT Friday was really happy, because I got three packages at once so now I have fun Doctor Who and Torchwood shirts to wear, and a scouter from DBZ. Because everyone needs a scouter, I say! It's awesome. XD
Anyway~ So that's the past couple of days and the coming week. Whee. Today I kind of slept in a bit, but then I ran some errands (had to pick up supplies for Thursday) and came in and here I am, Multidrizzling away, trying my last good idea as to why things keep messing up before I move on to something else. There's a meeting I have to go to in 20 minutes though, so we'll see how that goes. BUT by skipping work this morning like a slacker, at least I can go to the gym this afternoon before Diana gets done with her stuff and brings over the latest episode of Doctor Who. So there will be some happy watching-of-things tonight, and possibly a bit more cleaning. Maybe some photoediting, and I'll try to upload all those pictures that I've been meaning to. And write some emails, because I've had some replies half-done for a while. Gotta get on that!
Happy Tuesday? :D <3
