Turns out that since they were in the middle of redoing the roof on our building, when Alberto came through the roof couldn't hold all the water and dumped it down the vents and walls instead. So. Um. There was water coming down through the ceiling and the vents and down the walls and pouring in through one of my windows (which was CLOSED!) and leaking through my OUTLETS and it was not cool. D: It happened to our whole building, and I'm just glad I don't live on the third floor because apparently at least one guy's roof totally died on him and crumbled all over his stuff. o.o Though living on the second floor, that just meant that all the water from the third floor drained down through my place. The worst I sustained is my cabinets are gross and I had to throw out some food, two of my chairs may be soaked beyond repair, part of my desk is warping, my bed got wet, and my carpet and ceiling are waterlogged and gross. Ugh. My laptop got wet but it's still working. So YAY for that. Also YAY for my being paranoid last night and taking down my wallscrolls and any of my posters that weren't laminated, because I noticed a bit of water damage along the upper walls and something akin to a waterfall out in the hallway beside the building's stairs.

The maintenance guys came in and cleaned up as much as they could, but really, there's only so much water you can suck up. Now everything smells like wet carpet (and the floor is icky) and the ceiling is very scary looking and starting to warp where all the water (and rust! D:) came through from upstairs. There's a big stain on my carpet now. They gave me some huge fans and ripped up the edges of the carpet to get the air under them, but I'm kind of wondering how much that's really going to do. Mold grows rampant down here if you're not really careful. Plus, I don't know how they're supposed to fix the ceiling. I really wonder what's going to happen. I mean, I just signed another year's lease, but I don't want to live in an apartment with so much water damage. Even if they replace the carpet (which will be a PAIN) and redo my kitchen (which they were supposed to be doing anyway, only now it's more urgent), there's still a LOT of water damage. Plus, I don't know how structurally sound this building still is. Water in the walls can't be good for something like that. Something'll work out, obviously, but it's just a major inconvenience in the meantime. Just a bit of bad luck, I guess. ^^; I have renters' insurance, so I'm going to call them tomorrow and inform them of the situation in case I need to make a claim later. And the management's running around like crazy, so I'll try to catch them in a day or so to see what their take on the situation is and voice my concerns.

At least it's definitely not as bad as I'm sure it could be~ So I'm thankful for that, even though it is majorly not cool regardless.

So, yeah. My day off (UF was closed today due to the weather, just in case) was, um, an interesting one. After everything got mostly taken care of it was already 5pm, I took a nap (didn't get nearly enough sleep 'cause I was woken up early at around 9am by said water) and watched some Bleach. And here I am~ Um, the weekend was fun, though, what with the cast party for the Chess Match on Saturday and Universal Studios with Jen on Sunday. ^_^ It didn't rain much on Sunday, and we were inside both times when it happened, so yay for that~ I'll probably post more on that later, but I'm gonna go for now because I don't feel like typing it all up at the moment. :D;;

Hope everyone's having a good week! And passing exams. <3
