Eugene Sledge dances when Eugene Sledge wants to dance.

So! A week late, but we managed to watch The Pacific during reruns on HBO last night.

Well, except I still like Stella better. Buuuut thanks, Leckie, for ruining my head!canon by never having sent those letters home. Although it does make more sense, that he never actually mailed those letters to Vera. He was writing just for the sake of writing something, I can totally understand that. BUT VERA WAS REAL WUT? Way to go, boy, never ever mentioning her once in your book. LOL. How was I supposed to know? XD

Seriously, though? Mad props, man. That could have gone so, so badly. But I was duly impressed, I admit. And then he walked right into that paper and told them he was going to get his job back, with a raise. I LOVE YOU LECKIE. <3

In any case. The whole episode was much, much better than I expected - I have to admit, I personally think The Pacific did a fabulous job with the "slow" episodes where there was little or no fighting. Not one of the three of them was I really looking forward to, but they ended up sticking out as some of the best episodes in the series. Also, it's only $50 to preorder on Amazon... Hm, let me check: saving throw vs. buying The Pacific is an awfully poor roll...

In any case, non-Pacific-related news! Because I know I'm just off in my own corner squeeing about that one. I am going to see the Jonas Brothers again! They're coming to Tampa with Demi Lovato and the cast of Camp Rock 2 in October and I totally have a ticket. Woo, yes. I know I'm the only one who thinks this is a good idea, but too bad for all of you. I AM EXCITE. :D

I also have a sad tale of woe from yesterday. So I decided to go running after work, that's normal. I start, it's like 6:20, 6:30, and the sky to the north looks a little dark but not too bad... then I hear thunder-like-rumbling, but it doesn't seem so bad and I think the storm is still going to skate to the north of Gainesville so I keep going. About two miles in, THERE IS SUDDENLY LIGHTNING. Lots of it. D: I'm still at least half a mile from home, so I bust my butt to get back there. No rain yet, but the whole wind-whipping thunder-rumbling lighing-flashing thing is going on all around me. I decide that hey, the apartment complex has a gym, I really hate running inside but I'll go run the other four miles on the treadmill, okay? So I head over there, it's starting to rain a little, but okay. I'm going to be there for a bit, I'll be fine. I get going, a minute and a half in...

Lightning strikes and the power goes out. D: NO TREADMILL. The power comes back on a minute later, but the treadmill seems to have had it and refuses to restart. I decide that I am doomed and run through the increasing rainfall back to my building, just in time to miss the TORRENTS OF RAIN oh and ALSO HAIL. I haven't seen hail since... I left Illinois, I think. o.O;

Anyway, I still have four miles to run before the weekend is out, but since I'm going to watch a movie tonight I suppose it'll have to be tomorrow. The problem is I generally wait until 6:30 or 7 so there's no direct sunlight, because it's gotten HOT outside during the day (80s, sometimes low 90s). So supposedly tomorrow evening, I'll give it a go. Also, I need to get back on my situp routine, I've been avoiding that for two weeks, not a good idea. XD;

Okay, that's about it... Gonna head off and write some tags before I head home to feed the cat and put things away before movie night. I've got a couple memes I'm working to fill out, so expect more from me soon. I hope~
