"I forbid you to take another step down this staircase." "Okay!"

So I decided to put in Earthsea while I was sewing today, since I'd already seen it and just re-read a few of the books. I remember thinking it was pretty inaccurate the first time around, but I was thinking, "Really, how bad could it have been?"

Seriously, Sci-Fi Channel? There were books. Two whole ones that you covered. Did you ever think to, I don't know, read them? Or maybe even glance at the back covers? Obviously not. I mean. Seriously. I don't think you could've gotten EVERY SINGLE DETAIL more wrong if you'd tried. Ow. Seriously. OW. Even the Japanese version was more accurate. And that's saying something.

First off, his name is Ged. I mean, his real name is Ged. He does not GO by Ged. He goes by Sparrowhawk, which is not his true name because you know what, that's lame. Gee, that's only one of the most important plot points EVAR. Kossil was not sleeping with any king, who did not care the least about the priestesses of Atuan, the ring of Erreth-Akbe was not forged or broken by the priestesses, and Tenar was TAKEN from her home, she was not an orphan, and she certainly didn't want to be the high priestess. And Thar, while much cooler than Kossil, was not in charge.

By the way, the labyrinth? DARK. COMPLETELY FREAKING DARK. So maybe I could give you that one due to filming constraints, but come onnnn. You can get around that. Srsly.

UGH.

And yet I'm still probably going to finish watching it all the way the second time through. But not tonight.

At least Tin Man doesn't claim to be anything like the original Wizard, you know.

That is all. Time to try and get myself back on a regular sleep schedule, because I have a dfnuafaoufa-load of work to do tomorrow before I leave on Tuesday. D:
